Avril Lavigne made a surprise announcement on Tuesday afternoon by revealing she is engaged to Nickelback frontman Chad Kroeger.
The rock couple’s six-month relationship was so secret that many of their fans didn’t even know they were dating!

Avril, 27, and Kroeger, 37, reportedly bonded after making sweet music together.
“A romantic relationship blossomed as they spent time writing together,” a friend told People.com and the lovebirds are now set to walk down the aisle after Kroeger popped the question with a 14-carat diamond ring on August 8.

A rep for the Canadian Complicated? singer confirmed the engagement to People.
After two tumultuous years together, Avril split from Hollywood party boy Brody Jenner in January. She was previously married to Sum 41 frontman Deryck Whibley in 2009.
