Henry Cavill Ends Engagement with Equestrian Ex Ellen Whitaker

After only a year engagement, Henry Cavill and Ellen Whitaker have decided to split and call off their marriage.

The 29-year-old actor and the 26-year-old athlete reportedly separated months ago. A source dished to Us Weekly the relationship, saying, “There was no fallout. They just both agreed it wasn’t working. They broke up three months ago.”

As previously reported by GossipCenter, the “Man of Steel” actor proposed to Ellen back in May of 2011 while they were on a trip to Hollywood for his birthday.

Previously overjoyed about the proposal, Whitaker told press, “I couldn’t believe it when he asked me to marry him. I thought we were there to celebrate his birthday. It was such a surprise and I am so happy.”
